Something In The Air

Boy meets girl, a story told one million times and one
But no one story is the same
His heart he poured and then some more
His father smiled and said
‘Surely love will make its way’

On a cloudless night they laid outside to witness summers’ kiss
From soft brown eyes he heard her say
‘Love, it won’t be long till summers gone and I have to go again.
Send your kisses in the wind’

Oh there’s something in the air that comes alive when I’m with you
I swear that falling never felt so sweet
And I know in not too long you’ll be gone with summers passed
And I, with a lifetime left to dream

He married her one April morn in a small town gathering
That dress of white near made him cry
That night he swore his world was hers and kissed her tenderly
Hand in hand they said their vows

Oh there’s something in the air that comes alive when I’m with you
I swear that falling never felt so sweet
And I thought with not too long, you’d be gone with summers passed
But now, here, you’re standing next to me
The nurse walked through with blankets blue and a sadness in her eye
Said ‘Son, your boy is fine but I’m afraid-
Well, your wife, she took a turn and sadly now, she has moved on
Life is sometimes hard and seldom fair’

Oh there’s something in the air that comes alive when I’m with you
I swear that falling never felt so sweet
And I knew with not too long you’d be gone with summers passed
And I, with a lifetime left to dream
